Faith

What we believe

1.  The Bible is the word of God and is to be the final source of authority in all matters of faith and practice. (2 Tim. 3:14-16; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Hebrews 1:1-2; Romans 16:25-26; Luke 21:33; John 16:12-15)

2.  There is only one God who is revealed in a triune nature, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. God can be intimately known by everyone but cannot be fully known by anyone. (Genesis 1:1 “Elohim” the plural name for God; John 1:1ff; John 14:7-11; )
Check a Bible concordance to find personal attributes for all three members of the Godhead; The concept of God being divine nature vs. human nature- we cannot comprehend “divine nature” it is totally different.

3.  On the cross, Jesus died for all of our sins, sicknesses, sufferings, and shame, He then rose bodily from the grave, and He is available today to provide forgiveness, healing, deliverance, and restoration according to His time and will for all men. (Isaiah 53; Matthew 8:17; Luke 4:18-19)

4.  God the Holy Spirit enters man’s heart at the moment of salvation but there are many experiences through the filling of the Holy Spirit yet to occur in the believer’s life. Also, the gifts of the Holy Spirit should have open and free expression in the context of order and edification of others. (Ephesians 1:13-14; 4:30; 2 Cor. 1:20-22; 5:1-5; John 1:10-12; 3:3-8; Ephesians 5:17-21; 1 Cor. 12:4)

5.  Man is a sinner by nature and by choice and needs God’s work of salvation only found through faith in Jesus Christ to be in right relationship with God. This work of salvation is God’s work in man and not man’s work for God. Man cannot add to or take away from God’s work in his heart. (Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-10)

6.  Learning to love God and other people are paramount in the Christian walk and will be stimulated and maintained through regular Bible study, prayer, worship, stewardship, evangelism, Christian service, and fellowship. These are essential Christian disciplines for each believer’s life. Man’s spiritual growth and development is a cooperative effort between himself and God, which is, man properly responding to God’s continual work in his heart. (Matthew 22:34-40; John 15:12-17; 1 Cor. 13:1-8; 1 Peter 4:8)

7.  Jesus Christ will return a second time as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. When He returns, He will rapture His church, judge the living and the dead, and establish His eternal kingdom. (Matthew 24 and 25; 1 Cor. 15: 20-24, 50-58; 1 Thess. 4:13-5:2; 2 Thess. 1:7ff; 2 Tim. 4:1; Hebrews 9:27-28; 2 Peter 3:1-13; Jude 14-15)

What we value

We value: JESUS CHRIST. We desire His person, His love, His mercy, and His power to shine through all we do. (Colossians 1)

We value: INTEGRITY. We seek completely truthful, consistent, and open relationships with God, with others, and with ourselves. (1 Peter 2:12, Proverbs 27:17, 12:15)

We value: SIMPLICITY. We want our worship services and style of ministry to free people from complex traditions or heavy administration but to focus naturally on relationships. (2 Corinthians 1:12, 1 Corinthians 2:1-4)

We value: INTENTIONALITY IN CROSS CULTURAL RELATIONSHIPS. We would like everyone in our church to have a friendship with someone from a culture* different than their own. We also encourage and support people to live in other cultures through mission trips and various ministries. We want to model this in every aspect of church life. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 10)

*By culture we mean ethnic, social, age & gender.

We value: GENEROSITY. We want to remain free from debt so as to be able to invest more in people, support various ministries, the local Church and support missions around the world. (Mark 14:1-11, Mark 12:41-44, 2 Corinthians 8)

We value: WORSHIP. We share God’s desire for an intimate relationship which is cultivated by dynamic worship in private and corporate settings, and a need for an understanding of the Word of God. (Psalm 139, Acts 2:42, Matthew 6:5-1)

We value: GENUINE FELLOWSHIP WITH ONE ANOTHER In Church and & small group contexts. We want genuine caring friendships to be the context in which the purity of life, holiness, Christian character, and ministry occurs. (John 13:34-35, Galatians 6:2, 1 Corinthians 12:7, 12-27)

We value: THE BODY OF CHRIST. We recognize that we are only a part of the larger body of Christ and seek to work in partnership with other churches and para church organizations that have a similar vision to ours. (1 Corinthians 12)

We value: EXCELLENCE IN MINISTRY BALANCED WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE. We want to serve Christ with a passion and give Him our absolute best while recognizing that as people develop their gifts they will not be as refined as those with more experience. We embrace people who want to grow in using their gifts and seek to equip them for service at every stage of life. (Colossians 3:17, Mark 12:20, Acts 15:36-39, Acts 18:24-26)

We value: RECONCILIATION. We believe a right relationship with God is the basis for all true reconciliation but that the church should model reconciliation among family members, ethnic groups, gender, social/economic status, and denominations. (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, Galatians 3:26-29)

We value: RELEVANCE. We believe God’s Word contains the solution to every challenge in life, therefore, we present God’s Word in creative, artistic, and culturally relevant ways. (Psalm 119:105, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23, Acts 17:16-19)

We value: COMPASSION. We want to serve those in need in the community around us and in the world at large. (Matthew 9:35-38)

We value: PRAYER. Both personally and corporately we want to pray for God’s purpose in our lives and the nations of the world to be fulfilled. (Isaiah 56:7, Mark 14:12-25)

We value: EXTENDING THE KINGDOM OF GOD. Thus, we practice preaching the gospel, healing the sick, driving out demons, discipling believers, and feeding the poor. We participate in seeing God’s kingdom established among all the people groups of the world. (Luke 4:18-21, Matthew 28:19)

We value:  AUTHORITY. We submit all decisions to God’s Word as a final standard for our faith and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, John 8:31-32)
